LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A space heater overloaded the wiring of an older home, sparking a Sunday morning fire on Lima’s east side.
The Lima Fire Department was called to 115 N. Perry St. just before 7:30 a.m. Everyone inside was able to get out before firefighters arrived. The fire began on the first floor, traveled up a wall and reached the second floor. Investigators determined the cause to be electrical, triggered by a space heater.
The Red Cross was called to assist the residents. Damage is estimated at about $12,000 to the contents and $18,000 to the structure.
