The city of Findlay was recognized as the top micropolitan for the second year in a row, according to Site Selection magazine that covers business and economic development.
The magazine says Findlay had 26 major economic development projects last year, making it the top among small metro areas. Qualifying projects must be at least a $1 million dollar investment, create a minimum of 20 jobs or add at least 20,000 square feet of floor area.
Findlay officials say most of the expansions in the city were of existing operations. some examples are the wind turbines in town, Freudenberg-NOK and Hamlet Protein.
City officials say this is good news for not only Findlay, but all Northwest Ohio. They say this proves they have a good formula to economic development.
The state of Ohio was also recognized by the magazine, ranking second in terms of attracting major developments, with a total of 517 capital investment projects last year. Ohio was only behind Texas, which had 702 projects.
