Flute Choir gets to shine after being halted because of the pandemic

Flute players took center stage as the featured instruments in a Sunday concert. The Lima Area Concert Band’s Flute Choir held their “Take Two” concert at Trinity United Methodist Church. 14 flutists, some from the concert band others just friends of the group, showcased a variety of musical numbers including Amazing Grace and the William Tell Overture. The audience also learned more about the different varieties of flutes from the Piccolo to the Bass Flute through the music.

“We started two years ago, amd course, the pandemic hit, and we couldn’t play it. That’s why we are calling it “Take Two,” says Lucinda Altstaetter, Lima Area Concert Band Flute Choir. “The group is playing “Cherry Blossom Spring,” oh my gosh it’s a beautiful song. We are featuring a number with only Alto and Bass Flutes so people can hear what they sound like and listen for them.”

While this could be the only concert this year for the Flute Choir, the Lima Area Concert Band will be kicking off their 2022 season on May 14th at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
