LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Ford employees lent a helping hand at Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District on Friday.
Around 20 employees from the Lima Engine Plant volunteered at the Ottawa Metro Park for their annual workday. The employees are helping the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District prepare for the summer by spreading stone, planting trees, and clearing brush. Last year, Ford brought back the volunteer workday after taking a few years off for COVID-19, and they are happy to help out.
"I think it's very important that we continue this tradition because it's something that our past environmental engineer has started, and I'd like to continue that tradition," says Tina Hentrich, Environmental Engineer at Lima Ford Motor Plant. "Because it's actually a lot of fun, and a lot of people have a lot of fun coming out and volunteering their time with Johnny Appleseed Park and just beautifying the environment for our community."
Ford employees have been volunteering at the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District for over three decades.
