Crime Victim Services is helping seniors "get the scoop" on scams and identity theft with a new support group.
Wednesday afternoon was the first meeting for the support group, targeted to older people that have been victims of scams or identity theft in the past. The group held discussions and offered support for the seniors in attendance, and what to look out for when it comes to a situation where someone may try to scam someone out of their money.
"Watch out for requests for any type of financial means, whether that's cash or credit card account numbers - anything along those lines of financial gain," said Sherry Smith, Elder Victim Advocate for Crime Victim Services.
The group will be meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Lima Towers, starting at 2 p.m.
