This IRS scam is a call to homes stating the resident owes money to the IRS and if they do not pay, local law enforcement will arrest them. After numerous reports, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office wants to remind their citizens that the IRS does not call delinquent individuals, they will instead send you a letter. If you pick up and the caller asks for personal information, hang up. If you realize you have given your personal information out, call your bank and stop any payments immediately. If you've become a victim of identity theft, contact your local law enforcement.
