FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) - The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is giving a kids a chance to connect with their community through its Summer Connect Program.
The event teaches kids about topics such as eating healthy and managing their mental health through games and fun activities. Kids in attendance received free books to encourage summer reading.
The library partners with local agencies for the event, including the YMCA, Open Arms, and the University of Findlay Occupational Therapy program.
Officials with the event say that encouraging involvement in the community is the library's key focus.
"We love being part of the community, and I think of the library as the heart of that," said Kristy Szkularek, coordinator with Read for Life. "For us, we're always in the library, but in the summer, we get to get out and be a part of it and be involved in the community."
The Summer Connect Program will run four more times through July and August, and those wanting to learn more can go to findlaylibrary.org to learn when and where to find them. Registration is not needed and the event is completely free.
