With the ribbon cutting at 4pm on Friday the Allen County fair was underway and for Fred Arnold who first showed livestock back in the late 1940's, when the fair was held in Delphos, cant believe how far the fair has come.
For Harold and Doris Cotsamire its been a ritual for nearly 55 years coming to fair and Doris, being apart of 4-h back in the late 1940's, has great memories of the fair and can't believe how 4h has grown.
Doris Costamire said "its a lot bigger then it use to be, but I think the 4H kids still really enjoy it like we did. We use to spend time in the barns although we didn't have animal projects."
Marion Bowers hasn't missed the fair since he first showed a pony nearly 60 years ago.
Marion Bowers said " it was five horses and pony's when I was in 4H that year. That was the first year they ever had them and we usually had to help them put up the tents and everything else when we came out.
While Bowers still loves to come to fair to see the animals, now it's a chance to see old friends he otherwise might not get a chance to see.
