LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Lima was one of thousands of cities across the country where protesters gathered to oppose the Trump administration and its policies.

Between 200 and 300 people marched to Lima’s Town Square to take part in the No Kings Protest, organized by the Allen County Democratic Party and the 50-50-1 Movement. Organizers say the Trump administration has attacked free speech and the free press. They also believe the president has targeted judges who have ruled against him and organizations that have spoken out in opposition.

In addition, demonstrators protested the deployment of federal troops into Democratic-led cities and recent ICE raids. Organizers say they were encouraged by the turnout from people across the region who came to participate.

“I hope that everyone realizes that they're not alone, that there's a lot more of us out here than people think, especially in rural areas. We have a really big amount of support here, and I think a lot of people are scared to come out and say that they support this, living in this area. So, we really hope that this brings people together and gives them bravery to come out and speak out and support this cause, but our democracy is under attack, and we have to do something about it,” says Corrie Dunlap, Allen County Democratic Party.

Saturday’s event marked the second No Kings Protest held nationwide since President Trump took office.
