Land bank transfers property to St. Rose

St. Rose Catholic School and Church received a property deed today from their partnership with the Allen County Land Bank.

Land bank administrator, Rachael Gilroy, presented Father David Ross a deed to the plot of land next to the recently completed Catholic school building. Ross said the space will be used as a playground area for the school. The property address is 516 North McDonel Street. Gilroy said the property had been delinquent since 2009. It was acquired by the land bank through an expedited foreclosure process and was demolished earlier this year.

"The mission of the land bank is to serve the public with the properties we acquire and to help benefit the neighborhood," said Gilroy. "This is a prime example of the great work that the land bank is doing along with the work that St. Rose is doing."

Father Ross also said the land could be used as part of their annual festival.
