Lima church hands out 200 backpacks filled with school supplies.jpg

A church on Lima's south side is making sure students in their area are prepared for the new school year.

The Philippian Missionary Baptist Church gave families a place to have a blast while also looking towards the new school year at their annual Back to School Backpack Drive and Fun Day. The church gave away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to families in their community so that they have something good to look forward to as they head back to school.

"In everything we do, we try to make sure that we represent the Christ in which we serve and in this world in which we live in today, we're just trying to make sure that our own personal community has something positive that they can look at," said Lisa Horton, a member of the church.

This was the third year the church has held a backpack drive and fun day for their community.
