Lima City Council voted on a number of issues at tonight's(11/4/19) city council meeting.
Council has approved of increasing the funding for reconstruction on the Pine Street Bridge. Council also voted to approve of an agreement with the contracting group RB Jergens Contractors to turn Wayne Street into a two-way street. The conversion into a two-way street is part of an initiative to turn one-way streets in Lima into two-way streets to make them safer.
David Berger, Mayor of Lima spoke about the project, saying, “We can make the blocks that incorporate much of the Central Business District more pedestrian-friendly, as well as bike-friendly. So, Wayne Street for anybody that has traveled that, it’s a raceway. We know that this will, in fact, reduce speeds, and it will make it safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and for the traveling public.”
The project is expected to begin in 2020.
