A Lima man facing a murder charge will now have his case bound over to Allen County Common Pleas Court.
Paul Curtis Jr. appeared for a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Police arrested Curtis as a person of interest back in late November after a shooting that occurred at 420 South Baxter Road.
53-year-old Sam McLaurin was found in the driveway of the home, and was pronounced deceased.
Lima Police Detective Matt Boss was brought to the witness stand, where he shared details of the investigation.
The Lima Police Detective stated that they were able to track Curtis Jr. through GPS monitoring. Curtis Jr. and McLaurin were seen on Meijer surveillance video shopping at the store.
A witness at the home where the shooting took place told the detective that McLaurin came into the home and stated that the defendant was in the driveway with a gun. McLaurin then left the home. Moments later, the witness stated that he heard multiple gunshots.
"Upon my arrival, the victim was identified as Sam Mclaurin, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, and suffering from approximately eighteen gunshot wounds." stated Boss.
Curtis Jr. will now have his case bound over to Allen County Common Pleas Court.
