LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The City of Lima is moving full speed ahead on its street resurfacing project for the season, resurfacing approximately five miles of streets this fall.

The project will use about 3,500 cubic yards of asphalt, or roughly 7,000 tons. This year’s bid came in slightly lower than the estimated $1.2 million, allowing city officials to add two additional streets to the project. City officials are asking residents and motorists to be patient during the paving process, which is progressing well, aided by favorable weather conditions.

Ross Vennekotter, Civil Engineer II for the City of Lima, said, “Warm weather… it does make the cooling of the asphalt take a little longer, a few more passes with the rollers, but it is pretty nice without having major rain events.”

Additionally, motorists are advised to find an alternate route on Monday, Oct. 6, as Robb Avenue from Main Street to Jefferson Street will be closed for pavement patching near the Robb Avenue overpass.
