Students at one area middle school got the chance to show off their singing and professional skills at Wednesday evening's dinner theater.

Career connections and choir students from West Middle School hosted Dinner with Walt, a Disney-themed dinner theater. Throughout the night the choir students performed a number of popular Disney tunes, while career connections students prepared and served a spaghetti dinner. One of the teachers who organized this event says it's a great way for students to apply the skills they learn in the classroom to the real world.

“It gives them an opportunity to practice their professionalism and kind of practice everything we’ve kind of been learning and some confidence,” said Rachael Lesko, career connections teacher. “I had a student come to me and said I just went for an interview and I knew what to say because we’ve done this and we’ve practiced this. So it’s really exciting there.”
This is the first time the choir and career connections classes have collaborated on an event of this kind.
