A few tense moments in downtown Lima this morning as a man is restrained behind city hall. 46-year-old Troy Wilbert was seen pounding and shouting on the doors of 72 Town Square. His force was great enough to shatter the glass and bend the metal door. Lima Police got the call around 10:30 this morning and responded out the back doors of the police department. When asked to step away from the building, Sergeant Nick Hart says Wilbert looked up and charged at the officers. When he didn't respond to their commands a taser was deployed.
"He was ultimately tased a total of two times. With being a gentleman of that size and actually falling to the ground from the tasing, we did bring him into the police department, we contacted Lima Fire to come and attempt to offer any medical assistance if it would be necessary. He refused all treatment that we offered, and it appears that all he suffered was some minor abrasions on his knees," said Lima Police Sergeant, Nick Hart.
Wilbert told officers that he was trying get into the building to see his wife. After speaking with her authorities they believe Wilbert needed treatment for possible mental issues and will be getting that before any criminal charges will be looked at.
