On Monday evening in Celina, cadets with the Wright State University Lake Campus Police Academy graduated and received their certificates from the program. The cadets completed 770 of academy training that covered a wide range of law enforcement curriculum including education in firearms, self defense, driving, crisis intervention, criminal investigations, and so much more. Many of Monday night's graduating cadets already have jobs lined up in area police departments, something that Wright State instructors say is a huge need in society.

"This need is incredible right now. Almost every agency is looking for people. I've had agencies come from across the State of Ohio to recruit our cadets. The majority of our cadets already have positions. Some of them are actually being paid to be here; some agencies have already hired them. The need is huge. If people are wanting to get in law enforcement, now is a great time. A lot of agencies have increased their salaries and benefits to attract new people, so it's a great field to enter," shares Commander Mark Ernst, Wright State University- Lake Campus.

Commander Ernst says if you are interested in the police academy, visit the Wright State University Lake Campus' website where you can find contact info and how to apply.
