Another plea deal in the murder case of Vera Jo Reigle. Nicole Peters was sentenced to 23 years behind bars after agreeing to a deal that saw a murder charge reduced to conspiracy to commit murder. Two kidnapping charges were also merged, and a tampering with evidence count remained in place.
Judge Reginald Routson took the sentencing recommendations of both legal teams after hearing from Reigle's sister, who had strong words for the defendant. Peters says she, Daniel Bixler, and several others, plotted to murder Reigle, but it was Bixler who committed the actual killing.
Bixler has already agreed to a plea deal and will be sentenced in March.
