No Injuries in Bath Township House Fire Wednesday Morning

The Bath Township Fire Department responded to a house fire on North Dixie Highway around 9:15 Wednesday morning. Crews were called to the 3700 block of North Dixie Highway in Bath Township where smoke was coming from the back of the house. Bath Fire Chief Joe Kitchen tells us residents were home at the time of the fire, but were able to escape with no injuries.

Chief Kitchen believes the fire started in the wood burning stove at the back of the house, and says it had extended into the attic when they arrived. Upon arriving on scene our crews could see smoke coming from the back of the house and roof, and coming through the front roof of the house.

Kitchen says there is heavy damage to the attic as well as smoke, heat, and water damage throughout the house. Officials say they estimate the damages to be around $75,000. The Red Cross is helping the family in their time of need. The Allen County Sheriff's Office assisted in the efforts during the fire.

Chief Kitchen says they are still investigating the situation. We will continue to update the details of this story as they are made available to us.
