LIMA, OH (WLIO) - We now continue to take a look at the finalists for the Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year Gala. Tonight we take a look at the Non-Profit Agency of the Year Award sponsored by Cenovus Lima Refinery. Those nominated are:
Crime Victim Services advocates for the safety, healing, justice, and restitution of victims of violence. For 40 years, Crime Victim Services has led the way in outreach efforts, now offering nine distinct programs to assist in the healing process of thousands of people. The impact of Crime Victim Service is extensive when it comes to connecting victims and survivors to the services they need to move forward. A little more than 400 victims were served in 2023.
Family Promise of Lima Allen County is the only shelter in the area that will keep families together when facing homelessness. The agency's mission is to address the root causes of homelessness and support families in achieving long-term stability. Personalized case management helps families set goals, access resources, and develop the skills necessary to succeed. In 2023, Family Promise was able to assist 39 families, including 78 children.
Heartbeat of Lima is a pregnancy resource center serving the community since 1973 and is an affiliate of Heartbeat International. They work with a variety of organizations, churches, and agencies in the area to assist women and men in pregnancy and parenting decisions. Heartbeat of Lima's goal is to build stronger families through education, support, and mentoring. In 2023, they had nearly 2,000 appointments and walk-in visits.
The winner will be announced at the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce's Gala Event on May 1st at the UNOH Event Center.
