Ohio begins new driver's license process

The days of getting your driver's license the same day you pay for it are over.

Starting today(7/2/18), people needing to get new driver's licenses will have to wait no more than 10 days for it to come in the mail. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced the change earlier this year and said the new system will add an extra level of security that will help protect against counterfeiting. Plus, the new license will comply will state and federal security standards, but drivers will have to fill out additional paperwork if they get a federal compliant license, which will be used with the federal travel standards that go into effect in 2020.

41 other states use the mail to deliver driver's licenses and identification cards.
