LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning on U.S. 30 in Allen County.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lima Post said Lawrence Morris Sr., 62, of Toledo, was killed in the crash, which occurred around 10:17 a.m. near the Hancock County line. According to investigators, Morris was traveling on County Road 15 and failed to stop at a stop sign, pulling into the path of a semi driven by Andrew Skiles, 54, of Indiana.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old passenger was transported to Lima Memorial Health System with life-threatening injuries. Skiles was also taken to the hospital with possible injuries.

The Allen County Emergency Management Agency was called to the scene due to a diesel spill from the semi. The crash remains under investigation.

Richland Township – On March 28, 2026, at approximately 10:17 A.M., the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a commercial semi-truck striking a car on US 30 at the Hancock County Line in Richland Township, Allen County.

Lawrence Morris Sr, age 62, from Toledo, Ohio was southbound on CR 15 driving a 2015 Lincoln MKS. Andrew Skiles, age 54, from Rochester, Indiana was westbound on US 30 driving a 2018 Kenworth Semi. Mr. Morris failed to yield at a posted stop sign and was struck in the side by the semi. Mr. Morris suffered fatal injuries and was transported from the scene by Allen County Mortuary Services to Chiles-Lehman Funeral Home. Mr. Skiles suffered possible injuries and was transported from the scene by Beaverdam-Richland EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital. Lawrence Morris III, age 15 from Toledo, Ohio was a passenger in the Lincoln. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene by Beaverdam-Richland EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital. All occupants were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.

The semi sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Minich Towing. The Lincoln sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by T and H Towing and Recovery.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Bluffton Police Department, Beaverdam-Richland Fire, Beaverdam-Richland EMS, Ada-Liberty EMS, Minich Towing, T and H Towing and Recovery, Miller Auto, The Allen County Coroner’s Office, Allen County EMA, and Allen County Mortuary Services.

The crash remains under investigation.
