4:18 PM Update: December 11, 2023 Press Release from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office: Cecil, OH – The victim of a fatal mobile home fire on Friday, December 8th has been identified by the Paulding County Coroner, after an autopsy was conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. The fire occurred at 204 N. Stafford St. in the Village of Cecil.

The lone occupant of the residence who succumbed to injuries related to the fire was 62-year-old Charles L. Smith, III. It was reported Mr. Smith recently moved from Indiana to the Stafford Street address days before the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been determined as of this press release. Any additional investigation into the matter is being conducted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office at the request of the Cecil Fire Department.

No other information is expected to be released by this office.

CECIL, OH (WLIO) - A fire in northern Paulding County Friday night left one person dead. Officials are working to identify the victim before releasing their name. The Cecil Fire Department responded to 204 North Stafford Street for a mobile home fire. It was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived, and witnesses told them they believed someone was still inside. After putting out the fire, they entered and discovered a dead body. The State Fire Marshall is investigating the fatal blaze.
