There is a whole lot more than reading and writing going on in the Lima City Schools.
After taking the last two years off because of the pandemic, the school district was ready to show off everything that is going on during the school year at their open house Tuesday. Each of the buildings and programs set up displays or put on performances to showcase what the students are learning and doing throughout the school year. From music to science to social clubs and more, the open house gave the public just a sneak peek of what's happening behind the doors of the school.
“I have seen some older generation people come through tonight and they have said that I have never been in here. I have always driven by and I would like to see what you have here, that’s what we really want,” says Superintendent Jill Ackerman. “We want the community to understand everything that we have to offer all of our kids and see what their investment has done for them here and all of the programs.”
The open house is part of Public Schools Week, which raises awareness of public education and how the school district meets the needs of each of their students.
