Paczkis popular on Fat Tuesday

Originally a Polish-American tradition, now they're a hit, on Fat Tuesday.

Local shops are making sure there's plenty of Paczki available today. The tradition started to get rid of sugar and lard, that were prohibited during the Lent season. Paczkis are bigger than donuts made with a especially rich, dense dough, with more eggs and butter. A typical Paczki has about 600 calories. Because of high demand this Fat Tuesday. Pats Donuts and Kreme will set aside their donuts and only be serving Paczkis. The owner at Pats says this is their biggest day of the year in sales, and they started preparing for it more than a week ago.

If you didn't get a chance to come out today, Pats Donuts will be selling Paczkis for the rest of the week.
