It was a morning filled with math and fun for kids at St. Rose Catholic School in Lima.
Ferris Mowers and Scot Miller Motorsports hosted modified race car driver Andy Bibler and Sprint car owner Devin Dobie to give a presentation on mower safety and why math is so important in race car driving. Students were able to interact and learn about how math is applied when racing, ask questions, and explore the cars. They were even given the chance to sit in the car and see what it's like to be the driver.
Each year, Ferris Mowers and Scot Miller Motorsports take the car to a different school across the region.
"It benefits a lot of the kids when you look at it. They go home, they talk to mom and dad. They'll take the safety stuff home, they'll take their homework paper if we send home for them to basically do and bring back to the school. Helps their addition, multiplication. It's just a great knowledge for everything. It lets them have a lot of fun and it will be a great day today," commented Al Latta of Ferris Industries.
Ferris Mowers plans to continue doing the event each year to give students a chance to step outside of the classroom.
