Section 8 Housing Applications Topped Out This Year

Officials at the Allen Metropolitan Housing Authority say they are happy with the number of applications they received this year for Section 8 housing.

The last time the application process was open was two years ago. Just this past weekend, in about four hours, officials tell us about 500 people applied.

The good turnout in such a short period of time, they say, is a sign they are reaching out to the community, who in turn, is taking advantage of the program.

They topped out the waiting list, and are no longer accepting applications.

Section 8 housing covers Allen, Auglaize, Van Wert, Hardin and Mercer counties.

The executive director says it's important these vouchers are available to provide affordable housing for area families.

She says those who applied should be receiving letters for their vouchers starting in about three months. They just have to make sure they have your updated address, in case that changes.
