United States Senator Sherrod Brown shared with us his close ties to the American hero. Senator brown says he first met John Glenn when he was just 15-years-old in Mansfield, Ohio. Colonel Glenn, at the time, spoke to brown's eagle scout group. Brown says he was able to get to know Glenn well during his time in the senate, calling Glenn a "role model for so many."
"To me he was really a good man. He was kind. He was decent. He had time for everybody, he treated people well, and he would spend time with you no matter your station in life and to me that's why John Glenn is John Glenn in so many ways," Senator Brown said.
The Columbus Airport was just renamed after Glenn this past summer - which Senator Brown says is now another way his legacy will be kept alive.
