This weekend kicks off the official holiday shopping season. With some sales starting on Thanksgiving Day and moving into Black Friday local businesses want to encourage you to “SHOP SMALL” this Saturday. This will be the 10th year for “Small Business Saturday” supporting small hometown businesses. The “Shop Small Movement” is backed by American Express and they say 67-cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in your community. And shopping small also has its personal benefits.
Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce Vice President Nicole Scott says, “You get to know your neighbors and your neighborhood stores. So you get to know who owns those businesses and they remember who supports them and their business venture. You do get special treatment. You get coupons. You can always find special deals and coupons online and even in their stores. And we just want to remind everyone to keep it local.”
And by shopping local, you are impacting your community by boosting the local economy. Again Shop Local is this Saturday, November 30th.
