LIMA, OH (WLIO) - With the weather we have been having, many people have been dreaming of spring and so is Activate Allen County.
Now is the time to register for your little piece of spring at two of the Lima community gardens. It's an opportunity for people who don't have the space for a garden to be able to get a small plot to grow their own fresh vegetables. Organizers say there are many benefits of getting out and into a garden.
"It could increase just their overall health. Getting outside, increasing their intake of fruits and vegetables, connecting with the community, and helping to beautify Lima a little bit more," said Searra Hough, nutrition & dietetic student at Bluffton University.
Spaces are available at the South Jackson Community Garden located at 200 S Jackson Street Lima, OH 45804 and at the Friends of Lima Community Garden at the corner of Pierce and Kibby Streets. You have two convenient ways to register. Online at the site on your screen or call 419-222-6045. Beds are filled on a first come first serve basis.
