BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) - Despite costs rising across the country, fireworks at Springfield Fireworks have remained affordable for consumers, store officials said.
Workers noted that sales have been up going into the Fourth of July weekend, and prices have been down from last year. Operations Manager Greg Greer reported that despite tariffs, costs have gone down for the store.
"Tariffs this year are a lot better, even if we're still paying a higher tariff than what we used to. Our cost is still a little bit more, so the prices obviously are a little bit more, but at least they're down from last year. We're not dealing with what we were paying in tariffs last year," said Greer.
Being a luxury good, customers already plan to spend a bit extra for fireworks. Firework fanatics noted that even with a slight increase, the store has offered deals to help consumers get extra for their celebrations.
"They're pretty pricey either way. They're a little more this year, but there's more deals and specials going on so we're able to get more for our buck," said Alicia Marshall, a Springfield Fireworks customer.
"In terms of what we're planning to spend it's about the same, I try to keep it between $300 and $500," said Troy Fagan, another customer. "In terms of the prices of the fireworks, honestly I don't pay enough attention, and I haven't noticed if they're any more expensive this year than any other year."
Sales at the store are expected to increase as America's 250th birthday approaches, with customers focused on red, white, and blue fireworks.
