A Putnam county church, destroyed by an F-2 tornado has been rebuilt.
It was November 17th, 2013….a tornado levels much of Cloverdale including the St. Barbara Catholic Church.
A little more than two years later a new church was dedicated.
The cost of the project was around $1.7 million, that’s higher than original estimates.
Much of the cost was paid for through insurance, but parishioners stepped up to help fund the rebuilding of the church.
While the building was under construction, members held services next door in the parish hall which was not damaged by the tornado.
Bishop Daniel Thomas from the Toledo Catholic Diocese was on hand for the ceremony and was impressed with the faith of the parishioners.
Cloverdale Mayor Judd Spencer says while the rebuilding of St. Barbara’s is a sign that things are getting closer to normal, much still needs to be done.
