Employees from Procter and Gamble, Lima Memorial, Vanamatic, and OSU Extension Office brought hands-on activities to challenge the student's problem solving and critical thinking skills. Also checking out what the students were up to was the state superintendent of public education, Paolo DeMaria, who says it's important to get young students interested in the science fields.

"If you really don’t understand what an engineer does and you have two engineers from Proctor and Gamble, they're talking to you about what the design process is and how they prototype things and how many failures they have before you get a success, that is a great deeming of an understanding of what jobs are available right here in this community,” said Paolo DeMaria, state superintendent.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics says jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math are expected to grow by over ten percent, as the number of people going into those fields is shrinking. DeMaria says it's important to promote those courses in middle and high school.
