The Spartan Inn at Lima Senior is now open for business. The student run restaurant inside the high school is serving up buffet style meals that the public is invited to come enjoy. From now on the restaurant will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 12:30. The culinary instructor at the school says the students learn everything from food prep to restaurant management through the course.
"Everything is made from scratch, nothing is out of the box. The kids come in, they learn all the different aspects of the industry; waiting on tables, cash register, food production, garde manger, which is your cold pantry and your salad prep," Misty Lee, the culinary arts instructor, said. "On days they're not here they're learning their skills; knife skills, food production. They are learning their book work, how to follow recipes."
The full buffet including a drink and dessert is $6 and $4 to take it to go. They will also prepare meals for office meetings and businesses. You can get a hold of the Spartan Inn at 419-996-3521.
