Congratulations to the twenty-one new citizens who get a shot at the American Dream. Lima Senior High School hosts a naturalization ceremony where family and friends gather to cheer on individuals who were sworn into citizenship.
This is the first time the high school gets to host the ceremony. The school was able to participate by having some of their students sing at the ceremony while the new citizens received their certification. Guest speaker, Maha Zehery spoke about the struggles she faced when she first came to America and all the great opportunities the new citizens will have.
"It means a lot, because as much as we are all proud of our heritage, it means a lot, this is the land of opportunity, the American Dream is attainable if you really work hard for this" Maha Zehery, Outreach Liaison for Coleman.
" I mean, I've waited a long time for this, a lot of struggle, a lot of hard work, but we kept on going, and now here we are so I feel very lucky and honored to be a citizen today" Resha Acharya, New Citizen. Acharya says she looks forward to giving back to the country that gave her the opportunity to get an education and to make a better life for herself.
