Vehicle Crash Generic

May 21, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Springfield – The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a six-vehicle injury crash that occurred today at 3:58 P.M. on IR-475 near milepost 8 in Springfield Township.

A 2020 Cadillac XTS, operated by Kevin Herman, 54, Milton Center, Ohio was traveling northbound on IR-475 when the vehicle failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck a 2012 Ford Fusion, operated by Gabriella Pool, 22, Toledo, Ohio. The 2012 Ford Fusion was then pushed forward into a 2015 Buick Encore, operated by Michelle Hill, 35, Toledo, Ohio. The 2015 Buick Encore was then pushed forward into a 2019 Mazda CX-5 operated by Mark Rust, 48, Holland, Ohio. The 2019 Mazda was then pushed forward into a 2015 Ford Edge operated by Amanda Wozniak, 37, Perrysburg, Ohio.

After the initial crash a Volvo commercial operated by Gurjot Sandhu, 29, Ontario, Canada failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the 2020 Cadillac XTS, operated by Kevin Herman. The 2020 Cadillac then continued forward and struck the 2015 Buick Encore, operated by Michelle Hill.

IR-475 was closed for an extended period of time due to disabled vehicles and debris in the roadway.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Township Fire and EMS and Ohio Department of Transportation.
