BATH TOWNSHIP, Allen County, Ohio (WLIO) — The first full day of spring was marked with creativity and community at Boy Scout Troop 82’s annual Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts.

More than 100 local vendors filled the halls and gymnasium of Bath High School Saturday for one of the troop’s largest fundraisers of the year. Skilled artisans showcased a wide range of handmade items, including crafts, woodworking pieces and a variety of food products. Other vendors also offered books, clothing and storage items for sale. While attendees enjoyed supporting local businesses, members of Troop 82 gained valuable leadership and organizational experience through the event.

“Well, this is my first year being the SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) during this event, and it's been interesting. Is the word, because I have to make the schedule for everything and make sure everyone's working. Scouting is a very important event in my life. I get to learn new things, and I can use that in my life later,” says Shail Jadav, Senior Patrol Leader, Troop 82.

“Yeah, we start this months in advance, trying to get vendors and and getting them signed up and registered for the event. They let us know how many spaces they want and when they when they come back year after year, they can, they can actually sign up for next year before they leave today. And then that really helps us be able to plan for next year,”says Oren James, Troop 82 Scoutmaster.

Troop 82 has hosted the Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts for more than 35 years.
