Lima's Deputy Law Director John Payne gave us an update to the lawsuit against the Royal Inn.
A status conference was held Monday with the court, and it was determined that negotiations would continue, and another status conference was set for 45 days from now. Payne said the owner has engaged in "good faith conversation" with the city to terminate the unacceptable business practices at the location of the Royal Inn on West Market Street. The details of that, Payne said, are still being discussed. He said the two sides hope to have a resolution by the next status conference in August.
"They certainly understand that the continued business practices can't go on there. They also are looking at I think what is a big picture resolution to some concerns that the city has, so the city has been very grateful for their cooperation," said Payne.
The owner has been permitted to clean out the Royal Inn and remove furnishings.
