The Van Wert County fair is up and running, and showing off the latest renovations to the Jr. Fair Building.
Over the past year, the roof and ceiling were redone and a fresh coat of paint was added inside. The Fair Board also removed the stage to add some extra space to the room as well as air conditioning to keep things cool. The updates were a long time coming to make the space as usable as possible for 4-H members and the rest of the community.
"It's needed the upgrades," says Fair Board Marketing Manager Quincy Thompson. "This building has been here since the '50's, is when it originally started getting built. After so many years it just needs updated for all the other events we have that go on in the building. It's a rental space as well, so just keeping it up to date."
Still, to come, the Fair Board plans on replacing a garage door on the side of the building to add a new main entrance with double doors and an awning.
