PAULDING, Ohio (WLIO) – An early morning stabbing left one Paulding County man dead and another in custody.
Corbin Michael Delgado, 20, was booked on a charge of murder following the incident that left 40-year-old Derek Pontius dead.
Sheriff Jason Landers said deputies were called at 12:48 a.m. to 16369 Road 24, southwest of Grover Hill for a person with a knife in an argument. When they arrived, they found Pontius suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to Van Wert Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Delgado fled the home before deputies arrived. Around 1:48 a.m., he was located in Grover Hill by a deputy. The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted with the arrest.
The case remains under investigation and will be turned over to the Paulding County Prosecutor’s Office to consider additional charges.
