VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) — The Van Wert County prosecutor is moving from in front of the bench to behind it.
Gov. Mike DeWine announced that Eva Yarger will become Van Wert County’s new judge for the Common Pleas, Probate and Juvenile Division, effective Feb. 17. Yarger will replace retired Judge Kevin Taylor.
Yarger began her legal career in 1989. She joined the Van Wert County Prosecutor’s Office in 1996 and was elected county prosecutor in 2017.
Yarger will serve the remainder of Taylor’s term and must run for the seat later this year to retain it beyond 2026.
