Vaughnsville High School graduated its last class in 1962, and 56 years later the alumni still come together to remember their school.
The Vaughnsville Alumni Association held it's 114th annual Alumni Banquet. The event takes place every year over Memorial Day weekend at their former school, now the Vaughnsville Community Center. Even though the Alumni are getting older every year, the banquet still sees a high turn out of former students wanted to reconnect with old friends.
"Even though the school closed 56 years ago in 1962, we still meet every year as an Alumni Association and people come from near and far," says association president Mary Ellen Bogart, class of 1961. "As long as they continue to come every year, we'll continue to have the alumni."
For the alumni, it is nice to see what all their friends from the past are up to today.
"It's really special for us, especially those that come a distance because we get to remember," says Karen Odell, the graduate of the class of 1962. Odell made the trip from Montana to attend the banquet. "We get to find out what each other are doing. It's a lot of fun."
Attendance went up a little bit from last year with 82 alumni attending this year.
