The Van Wert Humane Society is looking for volunteers to help out at the shelter.
Taking care of all of the dogs and cats takes a lot of work.
Their cages need cleaned out, they need fed and walked.
The organization has set up a couple of opportunities for someone who would like to help.
Two training sessions are still available, one on April 14th beginning at 6 p.m. and the other on April 23rd at 3 p.m.
“The day to day need of these animals as far as getting them exercised, socializing them, giving them one on one attention, love, affection that is all left to volunteers. They also need exercise. The cats need socialization. So without volunteers the animals stay in their pens and they’re really not getting the attention they deserve and that oftentimes makes them less adoptable,” said Kari Kuhn, secretary of the Van Wert Humane Society Board of Director.
