Citizens of Wapakoneta had a chance to eat together as a community Thursday morning (November 24, 2016).
The annual Community Meal was put on for Wapakoneta families as a chance to come together with the rest of the town at Saint Joseph's church. This is the 12th year that the Community Meal has been put on, and it was completely free for everyone who walked through the door.
It was a chance for families who aren't celebrating with relatives to still enjoy a thanksgiving meal.
"Certainly in our transient society, there are folks that have to work, that move, that travel," said Wapakoneta Community Meal chair Dan Harpster. "My wife and I are empty-nesters and our kids are far away - we're not getting together today, so it gives us an opportunity to give back and to be involved too."
Around 400 people were expected to attend the meal throughout the day.
