An annual fundraiser put on by the Wapakoneta Family YMCA recently came to an end and Friday morning, the amount raised was revealed.
The annual support campaign raised a grand total of $145,618.58, which is a new record! That's 121% of their original goal of $130,000. The campaign is carried out to provide financial assistance to over 2,500 residents in Auglaize County. The funds raised help them gain access to YMCA services, such as childcare, day camp, and membership. The YMCA teaches water safety and lifesaving swim lessons, helps over 500 families live healthier lives and provides day camp to over 100 children in the summer, among other things. This money helps less fortunate people participate in these programs.
Those involved say the result is more than worthwhile. More than 40 volunteers worked around the clock to get donations from 371 different donors throughout Auglaize County.
