Former NFL player and Ohio State and Lima senior graduate William White spoke to the students in the Closing the Achievement Gap program at North Middle School. White talked to the students about how important practice is to improve, not only in athletics but in academics too. When he was younger he struggled with his grades, but through practice with math and other subjects, White was able to graduate with an engineering degree from Ohio State University.

"It’s going to be hard, just like true practice in football, basketball, soccer and everything else," said William White, Lima Senior and OSU graduate. "They will understand that, even though they are doing that, at the end of the day when they get their tests, they are going to do well on it. When they get in the game they are going to do well, because of those practices."

And in the age to social media, White says kids are more concerned about what other people think about them. He stresses to the students that they should be more focused on how they think about themselves as they go through life.
