Over the past couple of years dozens of accidents have happened at the intersections of state route 309 at Thayer to Napoleon roads. On Wednesday night ODOT met with people from the Lima-area to discuss plans to help solve this issue. ODOT held a public meeting to discuss their plans for the intersections and receive input on what the community believes is the best option.

Their current project consists of widening 309 and adding turn lanes at Thayer and Napoleon Roads or installing single lane roundabouts at both locations. They have hired consultants Jacobs Engineering Group to design the project. This project is funded by Governor Mike DeWine's intersection safety program.

First responders were called out to a single-car accident just east of Delphos this afternoon(10/30/19). The driver of a small Chevy car was driving eastbound on State Route 309 when he lost control of his vehicle and drifted left of center. The car went off the road and crashed into a telephone pole in an embankment near the Auglaize River. The driver of the car was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita's and his condition is unknown at this time.

A busy, connecting road between Lima and Delphos proves to be a hot spot for accidents yet again.

In efforts to improve traffic movement and safety, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio State Highway Patrol teamed up to put new traffic signs near Allen East School.

Ohio State Highway Patrol says they are looking for a third vehicle and the driver that they believed to have caused the accident at the intersection of 309 and Napoleon Road.  The accident happened just after 3 pm on September 16th.
