October 15, 2024, Press Release from Lima Memorial Health System: October is recognized as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to honor the lives of little lives gone too soon while raising awareness about the importance of safe sleep practices for babies. In recognition of this month and families experiencing the unimaginable loss of a child, Lacey Hefner, a beloved associate at Lima Memorial Health System, will donate special sleep sacks to the Lima Memorial Family Birth Center.

Samantha Schumann holds her son max close as she reflects on his life-threatening battle with RSV. He contracted the respiratory virus back in October when he was just five weeks old. His symptoms continued to get worse, and he was eventually admitted to Cleveland Clinic Children’s.

While the extra day in February is just another day for some people, leap day holds a lot of meaning to others. 

The myth that surrounds the leap year phenomena is that children born on leap days have unique personalities, talents, or even special powers. One family in Lima now has two special children born on two consecutive leap years.
