The Indiana bat is an endangered species and has been found living along the Ottawa River, and a local scout has built them a place to stay. Boy Scout Daniel Jenkins chose to protect the Indiana bat as his Eagle Scout project. He researched the animal and its habitat to determine the size and location of the six bat houses. As part of the project, he had to raise funds and use his leadership skills to direct volunteers toward building the structures. He says the process was educational and encourages other scouts to complete their projects.
