On October 30, 2022, David M. Wheeler of St. Marys was arrested by Celina Police on OVI charges. Before entering the booking area of the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility, an unknown white pill was found in Wheeler's possession. While taking inventory of his personal possessions during booking, Mercer County Corrections Deputies also found a rolled-up dollar bill, which tests determined to likely be methamphetamine and fentanyl. Wheeler is being charged with an additional felony for transporting drugs into a detention facility.

A death investigation is apparently underway in Celina Tuesday evening. Celina police confirmed just after 7 p.m., they were working at an emergency scene. According to WCSM Radio, a body was pulled from Grand Lake St. Marys. The Celina Police Department is currently not releasing any information. We expect to learn more Wednesday morning.

Mercer County sheriff's officials say an inmate still had drugs in his system when he attacked two guards last night. Sheriff Jeff Grey says a corrections officer was letting the inmate out of a cell to allow him to shower when the attack occurred. A supervisor rushed in and the inmate was able to get control of a guard's taser. The suspect also unsuccessfully tried to get doors released from the intake area.
